REED ALL ABOUT IT – JAYNE JOINS UP

Dog hydrotherapist Jayne Reed has taken the plunge and joined the committee of NFDOG.

Jayne, who lives in East Wellow, runs a business that offers swimming sessions to dogs with walking difficulties. It started when her collie cross/springer, Bess, was diagnosed with hip dysplasia six years ago.

“I tried to find somewhere in the Romsey area with a swimming pool for dogs and realised there was a gap in the market,” she said. “I decided to install my own exercise pool for Bess and to open it up for others to use.”

Jayne, who has a farm management degree, brings to the committee potentially valuable knowledge of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. She used to work for them as a horticultural marketing inspector.

She has been a member of NFDOG since the beginning and was at the launch meeting in Lyndhurst in 2001. She has owned numerous dogs since childhood, many of them rescue dogs.

She walks with Bess in parts of the New Forest close to Wellow, such as Canada and Half Moon commons. “I support NFDOG because I love the countryside and I love my dog, and I want to continue to enjoy the privilege of walking her off lead in a responsible way,” Jayne added.
